10 more public universities have been added to the D-document

As part of setting up paperless offices, 10 more public universities of the country have been connected with D-documents (digital documents) in the second phase. With this, a total of 18 public universities started the D-document process.

Education Minister Dr. Deepu Moni inaugurated the D-document program of the universities on Sunday (August 13) at UGC.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah presided over the program while Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury was present as a special guest.

UGC Member Professor Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain and Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Alam was present as speakers in the event.  UGC Secretary Dr. Ferdous Zaman welcomed the event and UGC's Director of Information Management, Communication and Training Department Dr. Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan delivered the note of thanks.

Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni said, files can be disposed of from anywhere through D documents. As a result, no files are stuck, the work speed will increase. This creates a culture of transparency and accountability in official work and reduces opportunities for corruption. He urged public university authorities to implement the D document. For this, he called upon the officials and employees to increase their skills by providing necessary training. He thanked the UGC for taking necessary initiatives to implement the D document in public universities.

Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury said that the use of D documents will ensure the mobility of official work of universities. He urged everyone to avoid the traditional mindset and ensure maximum use of digital technology. He advised university students to impart practical knowledge on ICT infrastructure beyond classroom teaching and ensure appropriate use of D-documents for their universities.

The Deputy Minister further said that the government is working to increase the legal capacity of the UGC. Apart from universities, UGC can supervise the quality of education in the colleges of the country. Besides, he requested the UGC to create a framework to create endowment funds and involve private institutions and alumni in the research sector.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah said, we are entering into Smart Bangladesh from Digital Bangladesh. Implementation of digital documents will reduce piles of files, service seekers will get smarter services and suffering will be reduced. He advised the university authorities to be serious in implementing digital documentations.

Professor Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain said that, the universities of the country should come forward to create smart citizens. Higher education institutions should lead in innovation and research. He appealed to the university authorities to focus on ensuring that the students can acquire skills and grow with self-esteem.

Apart from the UGC members Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir and Professor Dr. Biswajit Chand, the Vice Chancellors of Islamic University, Shere Bangla Agricultural University, Jagannath University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jashore University of Science and Technology, Barisal University, Bangladesh University of Professionals and Rangamati University of Science and Technology; Officials of UGC, a2i and Universities were present at the event.

Deputy Director of Information Management, Communication and Training Department Md. Monir Ullah conducted the program.

It is to be noted that in the first phase of February this year, the D document program was inaugurated in 8 public universities of the country.
